## Data collected

| Settings and playback preferences (stored locally) | No | Your on/off switches, your last chosen volume and playback speed, and a usage counter for the optional support message are stored in Chrome's extension storage on your device. They are never sent anywhere. |

## Never collected

- Videos, Reels, Stories, messages or any Instagram content
- Your Instagram account, username, followers or any personal identifiers
- Browsing history or activity on any site other than instagram.com
- Analytics, telemetry or usage tracking of any kind
- Cookies, passwords or session data
- Data sent to any first-party or third-party server — there is no InstaControls server

## Third-party sharing

None. InstaControls makes no network requests of its own and uses no analytics, SDKs or servers. The optional Support page shows Ko-fi's tip panel in an embedded frame; if you choose to tip, payment is handled entirely by Ko-fi and InstaControls never sees your payment details.

## Encryption

No data is transmitted.

## Data retention

Settings stay in your browser's extension storage until you change them or remove the extension, which deletes them automatically. Nothing is retained anywhere else.

## Permissions

| Permission | Why it is needed |

| Storage | Saves your settings (controls on/off, show on Stories, remember volume, remember speed), your last chosen volume and speed, and a local counter used to show an occasional optional "support the developer" message. Everything stays in your browser's extension storage and is never transmitted. |
| Host Access (instagram.com) | The extension's only job is to add a control bar to Instagram's video player, so its content scripts run on instagram.com pages to draw the controls over each video and apply your speed and volume. It runs on no other site. One packaged script runs in the page's own context to keep a picture-in-picture video playing when Instagram tries to pause it in the background. |
